I am a Metallurgical Engineering student from the Central University of Venezuela. My Final Project has to do with Cryogenic Treatment of HSS Tools.
This technology is new in my country and the industry in which I am developing the study is the first one in acquire a Cryo-Processor.
I have read literature available on the INTERNET in which some studies have found increases in wear resistance from the order of 300%, 600% and more. This is amazing. But I'd like to know:
1)What kind of test is usually made to cuantify the wear resistance of a tool?.
2)Is the pin-on disk test useful in this case?. If it is, what parameters do I have to consider?.
