Subject: Re: Re: Pontiac factory steel rods
Comments: : : I have a set of 1960 Pontiac steel rods which I would like to run in my 467 CID. I understand they only measure 14 to 16 on the Rockwell scale. I am told because they are so soft they must be heat treated to obtain a 32 to 36 on the scale. Will your process do the job and provide a bullet proof rod? : - : Brian, : With that low rockwell, iam thinking that these rods are cast iron and not forge steel, if they were forged steel, iam sure that they would have been heat treated, that's one reason why forged parts cost more than cast. : Either way, Iam sure that cryo treating them can at least gain you double the life. : Sincerely, : Steve Klingbiel : VP Sales : One Cryo
