What is the turnaround time for treating my gun barrel ?
Turnaround time is three (3) to five (5) days. Can I send my barrel in with the receiver?
YES - you can send in only the barrel or you can send the barrel with
the receiver. It is $10.00 extra for the receiver, but it needs to be stripped ( No bolt
mechanism, No trigger mechanism ). Please, no stocks, wood pieces, and or plastic parts.
Also be sure to remove any sight screws.
What do I need to do to my gun barrel to send it in?
The barrel can be sent in with or without the receiver (see above). It
should be cleaned well, packaged carefully and padded, so the barrel is cushioned to
prevent damage during shipping. Wrap barrel in a clean towel, secure with masking tape,
write your name on the masking tape. Use our convenient . (Print
yourself a copy).
Does the process help Stainless Steel barrels as well as Blue
(Chrome Moly)?
YES - the deep cryogenic process will relieve the stress in most all
types of steel.
What is the maximum length of barrel you can treat?
We can treat everything up to 66" in length and 18" in
width.
Does the freezing process affect the cleaning of the barrel?
YES - shooters have reported that treated barrels are easier to clean
and that muzzle velocity increased 50 - 60 f.p.s.
Should I treat the blank or the finished barrel?
Both can be treated for different reasons. The blank or round is
treated for the benefit of the gunsmith because it improves the machineability and
dimensional stability. The finished barrel of course, is treated for the benefit of the
shooter because of the stress relief and wear resistance.
Will the cryogenic process affect the barrel finish?
NO - the process will not affect the barrel finish (Blue, Parkerized,
Teflon, Stainless Steel, etc.).
Is the Stress Relief Permanent?
YES - the stress relief is a permanent, one-time process. |
